Abstract

ISSN 2007-7033.

A theoretical framework is presented for the study of interactive participation of higher education students in communities of learning and knowledge construction based on the new information and communication technologies. This framework integrates knowledge structures, learning interactivity and institutionalization to support adequate and effective use of such technologies in educational processes, all of them seen from both a constructivistic and a humanistic perspective. We believe this framework not only allows a sound socio-cultural approach to the study of educational processes that use the technologies mentioned above, but it also has important implications in terms of institutional policy and instructional design.
