GUTIERREZ SANCHEZ, Héctor; ALATORRE CRUZ, Graciela Catalina y ALATORRE CRUZ, Julia María. Sociological conditioning of alcohol intake: Puebla students case. Espiral (Guadalaj.) [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.63, pp.155-183. ISSN 1665-0565.
Currently, alcohol intake among students is mainly analyzed by a psychological approach with a highly epidemiological perspective. This paper aims to find some sociological determinants of this phenomenon, with special interest in the role of peer groups. To achieve these goals, a survey was conducted with nine hundred six students from Puebla. It was found that alcohol intake is determined by some "hanging out" that students usually do on weekends. In addition, it was discovered that these social events are only statistically related to enjoying the social interactions, regardless of social pressure (as the main alcohol-study perspective would suggest). These findings underline the importance of the social fact to explain alcohol intake.
