Abstract

In this work the role of neighbors associations as intermediaries between the local neighbors and governments will be analyzed. in particular, the action of the neighbor association of the colony will be reviewed "Jardines del Sol", a middle class colony located in the municipality of Zapopan of the Metropolitan area of Guadalajara, which was consolidated in the 2001 to improve and to stop the deterioration of the colony 30 years after its foundation. The following subjects will be talked about: 1) the emergence and consolidation of the neighbor association Jardines del sol to stop the urban deterioration and to improve the colony, 2) the conflict generated by the macro-project La Ciudadela and the response of the colony neighbors and, 3) the conflicting relationship between the local authorities and the neighbor associations.
