In this article about the European Area for Higher Education (eahe) it is intended to provide a better understanding of this complex and unfinished process Europe's Higher Education. Therefore, work has been organized according to a series of linked phases. First, we the origins of this initiative are defined and, to such end, the parallelisms among the creation of the European Union and the beginning of the ehea are analyzed, since they cannot be understood separately. Second, we highlight the main objectives that explain the process vertebrae, pointing out their main guidelines and trends. Finally, overall considerations are pointed out from the educational reforms perspective.
