Resumen
ROA VENEGAS, José María. Student Achievement and the "diglossic situation" in a Sample of Basic Education Students in Ceuta. REDIE [online]. 2006, vol.8, n.1, pp.1-15. ISSN 1607-4041.
The present study attempts to compare the levels attained in certain functions and abilities related to maturity for school learning in a sample of Spanish students in the first cycle of primary education whose first language is dhariya and others of the same school level whose language is Spanish. The results show significant differences between the subjects of different vernacular languages. Students who speak dhariya received lower scores in abilities such as audiovisual memory, elemental concepts and language alterations. It is possible to assume that this is due to the importance that conceptual development, associated with the command of the language utilized, may have in the academic achievement of the student.
