Abstract

BLANCO, Mercedes. ¿Autobiography or Autoethnography?. Desacatos [online]. 2012, n.38, pp.169-178. ISSN 2448-5144.

The article has a double purpose: on the one hand, to contribute to spread a field of study within the qualitative research perspective, and a way of writing and presenting results named autoethnography -we review the origins and development of this area in the last 30 years-; on the other hand, it is offered an example of this subgenre,that constitutes a hybrid that has been nurtured of various traditions.The topic of the personal narrative that it's included towards the end of the article refers to the personal academic trajectory of the author and has as its backdrop some of the epistemological and methodological options that the social sciences in Mexico have provided to researchers in the last three decades.
