The purpose of this paper is to analyze the participation of women in the election process for the academic positions of heads of de partment, divisions and rectories in the Azcapotzalco, Cuajimalpa, Iztapalapa and Xochimilco academic units of of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). I am interested in analyzing the participation of women who are currently part of the governing body of the UAM, in order to show to what extent the glass ceiling phenomenon is still present in this institution. At the same time, I review the selection processes from the moment they are officialy registyered as candidates to fill the position, until the final designation by the respective governing bodies in our collegiate institution.
