Abstract

This article was prepared with the intention of highlighting the place that women occupy in the society of Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl, focusing on the work they do and the role they play in their family unit, the permanence of the corn in the community and in the transmission of the values for this persistence-influencing. It was found that, despite that there prevails a patriarchal structure within the family, women occupy a place of respect and union, providing opinions and decisions that are valued. Factors of change in the community and in the activity of women into extradomestic areas are also seen. For this work, 95 surveys in the family unit level and ten interviews in depth were made.
