In this paper I intend to reconstruct, from an ethnographic perspective, a number of situations lived in an urban organization of unemployed workers at the city and the suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina. On one side, I describe and analyze how a certain complementarity of tasks takes place in the ways women and men participate. On the other, I show how the existence of an Espacio de Mujeres (Women's Space) in this organization strains the outlines and limits of those ways of participation.
