Abstract
CARDACI, Dora and SANCHEZ BRINGAS, Ángeles. La fertilización asistida en la agenda de los grupos feministas mexicanos. La ventana [online]. 2011, vol.4, n.33, pp.242-276. ISSN 1405-9436.
Assisted reproduction (RA) has generated considerable theoretical and political reflection in Anglo-Saxon feminism. Its adverse effects have been discussed, such as the reproduction of social inequalities and ideological constructions that reinforce the essentialist link between biology and female identity. But its destabilizing impact on traditional ways of thinking about kinship, family, fatherhood, and motherhood have also been explored. By analyzing the place of RA on the agenda of Mexican feminist groups Mexicans working on reproductive health, we found that demobilization and lack of discussion of a common agenda, the influence of funding in the definition of issues that will be given priority, resistance to move away from traditional lines of work and the view of motherhood as an imposition, have led to the RA not being part of the political agenda of most groups analyzed.
