The article analyzes the principle of administrative efficiency in the Brazilian Constitution by Constitutional Amendment No. 19/1998, defending a systematic interpretation of its content in accordance with the clause of social and democratic rule of law. It presents a proposal for identification of the various consequences of the normative content of the constitutional principle of efficiency. In the end, it examines the legal consequences generated by the violation of the principle of administrative efficiency, indicating the impact that inefficient behaviors generate on public agents, on the administrative activities and people injured.
