HERNANDEZ-RODRIGUEZ, María de los Ángeles y MORENO-VAZQUEZ, José Luis. Water management in an agroecosystem: between local self-management and government imposition. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.56, pp.165-193. ISSN 2448-6183. https://doi.org/10.22136/est20181105.
This study focuses on an agroecosystem of San Miguel river subbasin in the state of Sonora. The objective is to identify its productive subsystems and problems related to water management. The characterization of the agroecosystem which produces fodder for the livestock subsystem and its hierarchical problems are presented as preliminary results supported by the Management Systems Assessment Framework Incorporating Sustainability Indicators and Participatory Rural Appraisal methods. Likewise, conflicts arising from the confluence of two types of local water management institutions are identified: one deriving from traditional self-management and the other imposed by the government.
