GUTIERREZ-FLORES, Luis; VELAZQUEZ-VILLALPANDO, Maritza Areli y FELIX-VERDUZCO, Gustavo. Dynamics and distribution of labor productivity in Mexico after trade openness. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.50, pp.39-69. ISSN 2448-6183.
This document analyses productivity distribution dynamics in Mexico's federal entities for the 1994-2009 period. The main objective of the paper is to inquire if the dynamic process of productivity distribution in the Mexican manufacturing sector has a similar pattern or not, to the one found when discussing about income convergence. With that end, a different methodological tool is used which allows to consider the dynamic processes in productivity levels of the Mexican states. Our results indicate a trend towards a concentration of manufacturing activity in the country, and also towards a separation in productivity levels in recent years.
