Damages for durability in infrastructure have not only affected the concrete structures behavior, they also have economic repercussions that are key points to determine the profitability of a project in occasions. This article analyzes the advantages to apply in the constructive practice the design for durability of a concrete structure. Philosophy of the design by durability is presented, a tool and technological concept that, well applied, it can drive to the industry of the construction to have a optimization of materials during the XXI century, being able to build structures with a longer life and smaller maintenance costs, with the purpose that the construction participates in more measure to achieve a sustainable development in our country.
