Among the social concerns of first order is the subject of the age groups of 60 years or more; i.e. demographically have been fortunate to reach old age. Of Mexico, the State of Mexico is the most populous state with a population of 60 years or more than the figure of 1.2 million people. The amount itself draws attention, therefore, is to analyze how is your life and what are exposed individuals in their daily lives, how it is exposure to risk and what their margin of ability to overcome them, because the risks , dependence and limited capacity to face places them in situations of personal and social vulnerability. In this scenario, the objective of this article is to identify the degree of social vulnerability faced by the elderly population in the State of Mexico at the municipal level. To achieve this, an index of estimated of social vulnerability of the aging population in the State of Mexico municipalities through the principal components method was estimated. The data come from the Census of Population and Housing 2010. The results suggest that older adults face heterogeneous situations of social vulnerability that impact differentially living conditions of the elderly in the municipalities of the State of Mexico.
