Abstract

COTA YANEZ, Rosario  and  NAVARRO ALVARADO, Alberto. Analysis of the labor market and informal employment in Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2015, vol.21, n.85, pp.211-249. ISSN 2448-7147.

The aim of this work is to describe the situation of the Mexican labor market, highlighting the relevance of employment in the informal sector, which has been recognized as a major employer of the economically active population in Mexico on an increasingly large scale. Dynamics of the capitalist model have recently been showing a marked tendency towards two great changes in the labor market: a reduction of the proportion of workers occupied in manufacturing activities and an increase in labor segmentation, which translates into an increase in employment in the services sector, a greater participation of women in the labor market, and job insecurity.

Keywords : Labor market; employment; job insecurity; female employment; informal employment; crisis.
