Resumen

CUEVA-LUNA, Teresa Elizabeth  y  TERRON-CARO, Teresa. Vulnerability of migrant women in their clandestine crossing throu Tamaulipas-Texas border. Pap. poblac [online]. 2014, vol.20, n.79, pp.209-241. ISSN 2448-7147.

Women traveling clandestinely for shaped land routes historically made by male workers crossing Mexico to the United States are exposed to risk. The aim of this paper is to analyze from a gender perspective both the threats and specific risks they are forced to face, as well as the resources used by the women which are protective factors against the stressful trip. Using a qualitative approach we rely on case studies of 26 women transiting Mexico’s northeastern border. Among the main results is that even though resources are depleted during the trip, and that some resources may even work against them their human resources, meaning their skills and capacities -supported by religious beliefs- are those that allow women to really go further.

Palabras llave : Migration; woman; vulnerability; risks; resources.
