RAMIREZ-LOPEZ, Dulce K. et al. Vulnerability, sexual and reproductive rights of Central American women in two communities of the rural zone of Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2012, vol.18, n.72, pp.113-146. ISSN 2448-7147.
This article reflects on the problems facing women resident immigrants living in the rural area of Tapachula, Chiapas. Through a quantitative study on reproductive health, with special attention to sexual and reproductive rights, it is intended to become aware of vulnerability and social disadvantages of these women. It is argued how different situations, such as migration, precarious employment, communal insertion and the access to health services, between other ones, favor the vulnerability of women and how these elements can generate an impact in their sexual and reproductive rights. It also sets out the main obstacles faced by immigrants to flag their concerns and needs and highlights the importance of issues of international concern relating to migration from the approach of gender and reproductive health.
