Abstract

JASSO-SALAS, Pablo; CADENA-VARGAS, Edel  and  MONTOYA-ARCE, B. Jaciel. The elderly in metropolitan zones in Mexico; socioeconomic inequality and spatial distribution, 1990-2005. Pap. poblac [online]. 2011, vol.17, n.70, pp.81-124. ISSN 2448-7147.

This work has as an objective to analyze social and economic inequalities of the elderly in Mexican metropolitan zones (MZ) considering the different levels of aging and marginalization degrees in the 1990-2005 period. To do so, we revised analytical (aging rate) and structural () indicators. This allowed us to define the metropolitan zones with very high, high, mid, low and very low marginalization and from this the social and economic inequalities of the older adults of the Mexican Metropolitan zones are determined.

Keywords : aging; inequality; marginalization; metropolitan zone.
