Resumen

CONTRERAS-SOTO, Ricardo  y  HERNANDEZ-SAMPIERI, Roberto. Perception of otherness in the United States organizations from the Mexican migrant laborer: the Afro-American. Pap. poblac [online]. 2011, vol.17, n.67, pp.9-55. ISSN 2448-7147.

The present research is part of a broader study, where we analyze the perception of different otherness from Mexican migrants in the U.S., with testimonials by 1265 migrants from the Lowland industrial corridor in Guanajuato. The use of interviews is supported by deep hermeneutics; the direct testimonials on cultural identities amount to 76 cases, which are six percent of all the answers. The comparative analysis was based on the axis of a good impression, contrasting it to bad impression; similarities and dissimilarities were also contrasted. Mexican migrants have a good impression of almost every otherness, save the African-American, who are largely perceived in the category of bad impression.

Palabras llave : perception; identity; otherness; subcultures in organization; Mexican migrants; Afro-Americans.
