AZUZ-ADEATH, Isaac e RIVERA-ARRIAGA, Evelia. Description of the demographic dynamics in the Mexican coastal zone in the 2000-2005 period. Pap. poblac [online]. 2009, vol.15, n.62, pp.75-107. ISSN 2448-7147.
The population of the Mexican coastal zone and its growth patterns produce important modifications in the marine and coastal zones and said changes need to be considered in their management. In this paper we describe the population dynamics (2000-2005) of the Mexican coastal municipalities. During that period 23 percent of the national population growth was associated with the population increase of the 27 faster-growing municipalities (1.3 million) and the 38 percent of the coastal states population growth was originated in 16 open-sea municipalities with the faster population growth rate. In these municipalities in 2005, 8.7 million people lived, which means heavy pressure on said Mexican areas.
