The tendency of the infantile mortality in the City of Buenos Aires is hereby analyzed, using as basic information data provided by the births and deceases occurred along the 1860-2002 period. The causes of death are researched by age groups, since the study of mortality by cause is a necessary step towards the explanation of the levels of mortality in terms of economic, social and cultural factors.
