This article describes the demographic differentials from the poverty heterogeneity there is in Argentina. With this aim, it makes a comparison among different ways of material privation in different geographic contexts in the country, making use of the of the last population census -carried out in 2001- and the Index of the Households Material Privation (IPMH Índice de Privación Material de los Hogares), a tool which recognizes the coexistence of two privation forms: patrimonial and common resources. The study shows conventional demographic indexes referred to age groups and gender, fecundity and migrations. Finally, a balance is made on the relations between population and poverty -at a household level- which can be observed in the Argentinean case.
