From the XVII and VI Nacional Census of Population and Tenement in the 2002 year microdata, it is examined the magnitude and dynamics of the immigration in Chile. Then some demographic aspects are explored, highlighting the unpublished magnitude reached in the same year Nevertheless, it is translated in a modest quantity if it is compared to the magnitude of the Chilean emigration and a small relatively impact in front of that one that is registered in countries of immigratory tradition. The central sections contain an analysis of the main immigrant characteristics according to their origin, sex, age and arrival period. The immigrants laboring insertion occupies a special place: it is explored in the segmental laboring, the economic share and the insertion according to occupations, giving preferential attention to the Peruvian domestic workers.
