The purpose of this article is to analyze the determinants of income poverty in the context of the structural adjustment implemented in Uruguay in the last decade. A logistic model is adjusted under the hypothesis of maximum structural change of the poverty determinants between 1991, the beginning of the adjustment, and 2001, the last year data is available for the ECH (continuous household survey). This comparison shows evidence that under structural adjustment the determinants have modified. In particular, there is an increase in the weight of the modalities of labor insertion and the in the "titularidades" -defined in this article as an aggregate of real and labor rights that a household has and can demand over time.
