Resumen
BENITEZ ZENTENO, Raúl. Familia, derecho y política de población en México. Pap. poblac [online]. 2002, vol.8, n.32, pp.31-57. ISSN 2448-7147.
Mexico's demographic transition has developed in an unequal pace. Following this premise, this article examines the changes in demographic factors -mortality, fertility, internal and international migration, nuptiality and age structure, as well as the changes in urban development in the XX century. These factors are in turn examined in relation to changes in family structure, legal framework and population policies in Mexico. The author concludes that population policy has taken a less significant place. If family is the base of our society, as mentioned in the actual political discourse, we are still in time to make family -its diversity, ends and consequences, the central topic of population policy.
