In this article the author analyzes the impact of Mexico's economic restructuring on the labor market, emphasizing the transformations that have occured in the sexual division of labor in the 1970-1997 period. According to the results obtained, it is possible to say that recent economic reforms have negatively affected workers of both genus. However, women continue being concentrated in some of the more unprotected categories of the labor force, and that concentration has been greater in the moments where the worst socioeconomic conditions have been observed.
