The research described in this article has the objective of characterizing the social representations of climate change among a sample of high school students enrolled in their second, fourth, or sixth semester. Research is centered on the study of student's social thinking, compiled through language and a procedure of multiple methodologies. The results identify the characteristics of the social representations of climate change, summarized in four dyads: acceptance/denial, proactivity/indifference, optimism/catastrophism, and linear/comprehensive. Some representations are “latent” but emerge in a situation or message is different contexts or practices, such as those derived from environmental education.
