The objective of this article is to analyze the emergence and inclusion of the Education major at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM); in other words, to study the status of forces surrounding the creation and formation of the College of Education at UNAM. Two empirical referents provided the basis for the project: documents and interviews, analyzed from the perspective of Political Discourse Analysis (PDA). The findings show that the institutionalization of the Education major at UNAM was a time of diverse factors, the effect of substitutions, replacements and displacements, disguised victories, and systematic deviations. A new profession was born in the nation, which still lacked a clear conceptualization and conception of educators.
