Abstract

DIOS, Irene; CALMAESTRA, Juan  and  RODRIGUEZ-HIDALGO, Antonio J.. Validation of the Scale of Organizational and Didactic Competencies for Educators. RMIE [online]. 2018, vol.23, n.76, pp.281-302. ISSN 1405-6666.

This article presents a validating study of a scale to evaluate teachers’ competencies. The sample included 1,495 university students of preschool and elementary education in Cordoba, Spain. The participants answered a self-reporting questionnaire. The factorial structure of the instrument was explored and confirmed for two competencies: organizational and didactic. The scale showed good psychometric properties and high indexes of reliability. Once the scale of organization and didactic competencies had been obtained, it was used to discover the students’ perceptions of the development of competencies; it was also employed to determine differences as a function of course, specialty, and gender. The discussion is centered on the scale’s contribution and usefulness for research, and the evaluation of organizational and didactic competencies in pre-service and in-service teachers.

Keywords : professional competencies; measuring instruments; didactics; school organization; teacher education.
