Abstract

ARAUJO RODRIGUEZ, Daniela; ROCHERA VILLACH, María José  and  MARTINEZ LOPEZ, Silvia Eugenia. Evaluation of Competencies in Mexico's Elementary Schools through a Natural Science Project in Spanish Class. RMIE [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.73, pp.475-504. ISSN 1405-6666.

The objective of this study is to describe and analyze how teachers evaluate competencies on using the methodology of project-based learning. From a situated and sociocultural constructivist framework, a model of analysis was employed to explain the situations of evaluation identified during a didactic sequence in which a teacher and her fifth-grade students carried out a project in Spanish class; the project involved the preparation of a nutritional menu and incorporated content studied in their natural science class. The results show four types of situations of evaluation and the presence of elements congruent with the evaluation of competencies. Also offered are orientations to strengthen the design of situations of evaluation in future projects.

Keywords : evaluation of learning; competencies; teaching methods; constructivism; teacher performance.
