Abstract

BULLEN AGUIAR, Aída Atenea. Agents, Capital, and the Field of Environmental Education in Michoacán. RMIE [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.73, pp.399-420. ISSN 1405-6666.

This article analyzes the design and execution of environmental education policy in Michoacán, Mexico, during a ten-year period, based on the praxeology of Pierre Bourdieu. First identified were the environmental educators who participated in writing Estrategia de Educación, Comunicación e Información Ambientales de Michoacán, the only formal document that delineates such policies in the state. The social space of the political agents was constructed by using academic, cultural, and social capital to define the field of policy. Interviews revealed the political practices of the four efficient agents that contributed to policy design through the formalization of the nomos or rule of the field of environmental education policy.

Keywords : environmental education; public policy; social relations; sociology of education; Mexico.
