FERNANDEZ-GARCIA, Carmen-María; GARCIA-PEREZ, Omar  e  RODRIGUEZ-PEREZ, Sara. Mothers and Fathers with regard to Teenagers' Academic Decisions in Secondary Education: A Qualitative Study. RMIE [online]. 2016, vol.21, n.71, pp.1111-1133. ISSN 1405-6666.

This paper is centered on the analysis of parents' verbalizations regarding the academic choices of their children in secondary school. The purpose is to examine the factors that influence vocational decision-making. A qualitative design based on discussion groups was used. The study reveals that families are very involved in decision-making, although they respect their children's choices. Most parents prefer that their children enroll in a university; in addition, teenagers may be influenced by their parents' professional activity. Almost all parents verbalize high expectations with regard to their children's academic future.
