This article studies the use of the biographical method in the setting of social and educational studies in contemporary Portugal. First, we present a map of the main authors, projects, and perspectives of the biographical method in our country, debating its recent emergence and future potential. Second, we explore the interpretation of migration in a collaborative project. Last, we discuss its use in a recent study on the formal and informal education of the working class, within an innovative program of recognizing the skills of adults with little education.
