Abstract

JOSSO, Marie-Christine. Autobiographical Process of (Trans)formation of Identity and Self-knowledge. RMIE [online]. 2014, vol.19, n.62, pp.735-761. ISSN 1405-6666.

Biographical focuses in research and education are presented as a path of knowledge that enriches the epistemological, methodological, and conceptual directory of educators, therapists, and other professionals involved in relationships and social transactions. In this paper, I discuss the perspective I have constructed over the years for biographical and autobiographical research, which may be called evolving singular/pluralexistentiality, and I show some key moments in the evolution of my thinking. I also explain the elements of an experiential conception of identity and I explain the individual dimensions that lead to the need for a transdisciplinary multidimensional focus in the study of stories about the self.

Keywords : autobiography; life histories; identity; educational research.
