Abstract

CASTRO CARRASCO, Pablo et al. Teachers' Willingness to Use Systematic Collective Reflection at a School in Chile. RMIE [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.53, pp.573-591. ISSN 1405-6666.

This project studied a process of training teachers in strategies of Systematic Collective Reflection in a public technical school in La Serena, Chile. The teachers' willingness to use collective reflection in their professional performance was explored. Thirty-one teachers, from diverse disciplines, and directors participated. The methodology was qualitative, based on documents and semi-structured interviews. The results show, in terms of the teachers' Subjective Theories, various topics related to their willingness to use Systematic Collective Reflection, including factors that facilitate or hinder the reflective process, of the "internal and external" type. Discussion emphasizes the impact of the teachers' Subjective Theories on the exercise of their profession, and especially on their collective reflective practices.

Keywords : subjectivity; teacher development; teacher education; qualitative research; Chile.
