Abstract

PENALOSA CASTRO, Eduardo  and  CASTANEDA FIGUERAS, Sandra. Identification of Predictors for Effective Online Learning: A Model of Structural Equations. RMIE [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.52, pp.247-285. ISSN 1405-6666.

The objective of this study was to test a model that included a series of predictors of effective online learning in an undergraduate psychology course. The model's constructs were: 1) previous knowledge, 2) interactivity, and 3) self-regulated learning skills. The testing of the model's fit, based on Structural Equation Modeling, obtained satisfactory indexes (parameters in the final unit: x2= 157.25; p>=0.20; CFI=.97; RMSEA=0.03). The article discusses the need to continue performing studies that contribute to understanding learning in technological settings. At this moment in history, flexible solutions are needed in order to broaden educational coverage with quality and efficiency, in light of the unreflective, pragmatic adoption of unsuccessful solutions.

Keywords : distance learning; learning; previous knowledge; interactivity; self-regulated learning; higher education; Mexico.
