On March 24, 1976, the members of the three branches of the armed forces in Argentina organized the sixth assault on a constitutionally elected government. At the same time, other coups with similar characteristics were occurring in the nations of South American's southern cone. In the 1960s and 1970s, in the context of the Cold War and the "Communist threat", nationalistic civilian and military groups emphasized the importance of defending "the nation" in association with "threatened" territory. In this article, we analyze an aspect that has been the object of little study: the content of discourse and the educational and cultural policies linked to the topic of the border in this "bellicose" sense.
