Secondary school faces unavoidable challenges in broadening coverage while offering relevant knowledge that relates to culture and today's society. The classical format has shown its limits in harboring young people in general and young people with difficulties in particular, in addition to limits in implementing change. This article addresses a proposal to change the traditional format by analyzing possible transformations and persistence, based on an analysis of a specific policy for young people who have dropped out of school. It is a product of a research project completed in 2006, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Other links and pedagogical centrality have been possible in these schools.
