Abstract
MARTINEZ MARTINEZ, Román and HEREDIA ESCORZA, Yolanda. Tecnología educativa en el salón de clase: estudio retrospectivo de su impacto en el desempeño académico de estudiantes universitarios del área de Informática. RMIE [online]. 2010, vol.15, n.45, pp.371-390. ISSN 1405-6666.
This study shares the experience of using educational technology in a university course in computer science, analyzing in retrospect the way such technology has influenced students' academic performance. The results show that the use of technology has improved scholastic achievement although not in a significant manner. The study confirms that students' academic profile is a determining factor in their performance during the course. The findings indicate that performance is more predictable for the males and for students with a better academic profile. The model of analysis and the results, although specific for the case, can be useful in reflections on the way information and communication technologies are transforming our world's educational processes.
