Abstract
PRECIADO CORTES, Florentina; GOMEZ NASHIKI, Antonio and KRAL, Karla. Ser y quehacer docente en la última década: un estudio cualitativo de las políticas de formación en el profesorado. RMIE [online]. 2008, vol.13, n.39, pp.1139-1163. ISSN 1405-6666.
This article presents a qualitative analysis of the experiences of professors at a Mexican university as they meet the requirements of the Professor Improvement Program. The study focuses on the way the program has affected teachers' work, the multiplication of tasks, and the evaluation process for obtaining a desirable profile. Doing teaching work, research, management, and tutoring places teachers in a difficult, stressful situation-especially female teachers who must combine full-time work with their roles as mother, wife, and daughter. This system implies the full dedication of faculty members, since functions and productivity are evaluated. They are undergoing a stage of transition in which the identity of a full-time teacher/researcher has not been completely understood or defined.
