Resumen
KESSLER, Gabriel. Escuela y delito juvenil. La experiencia educativa de jóvenes en conflicto con la ley. RMIE [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.32, pp.283-303. ISSN 1405-6666.
Based on a study of juvenile delinquency in Buenos Aires, the article presents the characteristics of the educational trajectories of young people in conflict with the law. Delinquency and the school experience are not mutually exclusive, as sustained by the classic theories of criminology; in reality, juvenile delinquents establish complex relations with educational institutions. The article first analyzes the relation between personal experience and the general meaning of education. A description is given of the type of daily school practice, and the characteristics of students’ links with teachers at secondary schools are determined. Note is made of the tension between a secondary school that believes in school holding power, and the forms of exclusion and disqualification that are actually observed. After studying the delinquent actions committed at school, the article concludes with a reflection on school and the law’s uncertainty.
