Programs of minimum rent guarantees tied to school attendance have become leaders in the reforms of social and educational policies in Latin America. Brazil’s Bolsa Escola program is a significant reference of such interventions. This article analyzes a set of evaluations of Bolsa Escola by various authors, in order to identify the methodologies used and their conclusions and recommendations. Presented first are the characteristics and forms of the program, followed by an evaluation of four settings: the processes of locating beneficiaries, the program’s operating systems, program coverage, and the impact on social dimensions. The conclusions synthesize the analysis and indicate aspects that require further evaluation for learning the limits and opportunities of the program and other similar programs.
