Abstract

RIVAS ARAIZA, Edgar A. et al. Contrast Enhancement and Illumination Changes Compensation. Comp. y Sist. [online]. 2007, vol.10, n.4, pp.357-371. ISSN 2007-9737.

In this paper a contrast operator built by means of two primitives involving Weber's Law is presented. The proposed contrast mapping has two objectives, in the first place the contrast enhancement and in the second, the normalization of the processed image. The contrast enhancement is based on the image background detection; this parameter is computed through the analysis of the regional minimums, which are detected by means of the morphological closing by reconstruction. To show the performance of the proposed transformation, some examples are presented. In the examples some images with undesirable illumination effects characterized by the presence of shades are processed.

Keywords : Weber's Law; contrast; morphological building filters; illumination changes compensation.
