ARELLANO-GIL, Javier; MACIAS-GONZALEZ, Héctor L. y CRUZ-TERRES, Marco A.. Proposal for drainage for gray and residual water from México Basin to the Balsas Basin to prevent floods. Bol. Soc. Geol. Mex [online]. 2006, vol.58, n.2, pp.251-252. ISSN 1405-3322. https://doi.org/10.18268/bsgm2006v58n2a7.
In order to avoid possible floods of great extension produced by intense pluvial precipitations that overflow the current drainage in Mexico City and suburban municipalities of the State of Mexico, a new artificial water exit in the Mexico basin at its southeastern end is proposed. This would consist in a channel and a tunnel excavated in the lacustrine sequence, in volcanic rocks of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt and in the clastic sequence of the Balsas basin. It is proposed that the excavation follows an abandoned railroad (federal zone), from the locality of Xico in the State of Mexico to the Cuautla River, located to the north of Cuautla, State of Morelos.
