Resumen

CAMPOS-ARANDA, Daniel F.. Regional flood frequency analysis at hydrological region no. 10 (Sinaloa), México. 1: seasonality measures and regions of influence. Agrociencia [online]. 2014, vol.48, n.2, pp.147-158. ISSN 2521-9766.

The Regional Flood Frequency Analysis (RFFA) is used to improve the accuracy of design flood estimates in sites where the recording of data, of annual maximum flows is scarce or nonexistent. For RFFA it is necessary to identify the study region to transfer the maximum flow information. Regions are generally formed on the basis of some measure of similarity or dissimilarity between the watersheds. The method used in this study is one that applies flood seasonality as a measure of similarity in assessing the hydrological response of the watershed in order to group floods under the concept of Region of Influence (ROI). Records from 21 ganging stations of Hydrological Region No. 10 (Sinaloa) were processed and their ROI defined with only five auxiliary stations due to the presence of two groups of watersheds in relation to their seasonality indices.

Palabras llave : regionalization; directional statistics; seasonal dissimilarity index.
