The randomized response technique (RR), introduced by Warner (1965) was designed to avoid non-answers to questions about sensitive issues and protect the privacy of the interviewee. In this paper, a new approach is proposed using information contained in the correlation between the variable of interest and an innocuous variable W; this approach is called here, the C model. Likewise it is proposed, under a finite populations sampling scheme, and in the framework theory of π estimators (Särndal et al., 1992; Cassel et al., 1977) the unification of several of the RR models in a more general one (G model). Furthermore, the variances of the different models are obtained and, under certain restrictions, the C model estimator is more efficient.
