Blackberries (Rubus spp) are a genetic resource that develops in mountainous areas of Mexico and are adapted to different climatic conditions, however, in Mexico there is no information for their use or in research programs. The objective of the present investigation was to determine the richness, distribution and diversity of wild blackberry species from the records of occurrence. The Worldclim database was used to know the climatic variables that determine its distribution. The echogeographic information was obtained from the REMIB-CONABIO database, which was submitted to the DIVA-GIS® 7.5 BIOCLIM algorithm. The information was analyzed by principal components and multiple correspondences. Results show that 42 blackberry species are found in Mexico and were distributed in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Axis and Sierra Madre del Sur. Chiapas, Veracruz, the State of Mexico and Hidalgo presented greater richness (number of species present), while Chiapas and Veracruz presented greater diversity (percentage of each species with respect to the total number of species present). The minimum temperature and annual precipitation determine the potential distribution zones of blackberries. 51.9% of the blackberry species presented differences between species in relation to climatic requirements.
