ISSN 1405-2768.

Ethnobotanical studies assist in developing conservationists strategies and there are many forms of sampling used to collect data in such studies. To get up accurate information when making decisions fast conservationists arises the need to compare the existing forms of sampling. Thus, the present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of different forms of sampling ethnobotanical starting from a basic tool, the interview. The research was conducted in the Rural Community Carrasco, located in the city of Arapiraca, rugged region of Alagoas. Was handed a term of free consent to informants who participated in the survey, all 18 years old. Interviews were semistructured in three distinct forms of sampling: snow-ball, census and raffle. In technical snow-ball 42 informants participated, and the draws were considered 130 interviews and 173 in the census. In drawing on census and the plant was cited as the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in the category Agricultural framed in snow-ball the most cited was the cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.), framed in category food. It was observed that the snow-ball allowed the identification of local experts, as well as the optimization of time conducting research. The census allowed collecting a larger amount of information and the draw is effective in delimiting the sample when it is very high. It should be noted that regardless of the form of sampling, the most frequently cited category was the same farming, allowing profiling of the community, since the agricultural crop plants were the most cited.
