Abstract
CHAZARO BASANEZ, Miguel de Jesús; OLIVA RIVERA, Héctor; RAMON FARIAS, Feliza and VAZQUEZ-GARCIA, José Antonio. CLADOCOLEA OLIGANTHA (LORANTHACEAE) UN NUEVO REGISTRO PARA VERACRUZ, MÉXICO, Y DATOS GENERALES SOBRE ESTE TAXÓN. Polibotánica [online]. 2005, n.20, pp.1-15. ISSN 1405-2768.
Cladocolea oligantha is first recorded for the Veracruz State (eastern-central Mexico), as a 500 km disyunction, perhaps resulting from recent long distance dispersal by frugivorous birds. This hemiparasitic mistletoe seems to prefer trees of Bursera spp. in tropical dry forests. Thus, is abundant and frequent in drier western Mexico and extremely rare in moist eastern Mexico.
Keywords : mistletoes; disyunction; Gulf of Mexico; long distance dispersal; frugivorous birds.
